Discipline: Jumper, Western Pleasure
I started my riding career nearly 11 years ago at the age of 8 but my love of horses goes back much farther. My first seven years of riding were spent in the western pleasure show ring with a little quarter horse mare named Jewel. Near the end of those seven years, unfortunate circumstances led to the end of my partnership with Jewel and the end of my time in the western pleasure ring. Six months after Jewel’s passing, in March of 2015, I took my first jumping lesson and haven’t looked back. The horse that took me over my first jump was a not so little mare by the name of Carmilla. Three years later me and Carm have grown immensely as a team, and individually. Under the guidance of Daisy Kosa, Carm and I finished the 2017 show season with a third overall in the 2’9” jumper division of the Hamilton Hunt Club show series. We have also competed in the .90m trillium jumpers both in 2016 and 2017. Looking at the year ahead, I hope that that me and Carm become better as partners, and to maybe get the opportunity to compete in some bigger shows, maybe stepping into the 1m or 1.10m jumpers.
